Why You Should Buy Your MZ Used Motorcycle Parts from MrCycleParts

MZ started with Danish industrialist and engineer Jorgen Skafte Rasmussen bought an empty cloth factory in Zschopau, Germany. He originally was producing steam fittings, but by 1917 he had developed a steam-powered car called a Dampf-Kraft-Wagen, trademarked as DKW. In 1920 he released a motor-assisted bicycle and in 1923 renamed the company to DKW. By 1929 there are 60,000 motorcycles being produced at the Zschopau factory, in addition to a factory in Zwickau. DKW had become the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. In the 30’s they started producing small cars and formed a union with Audi, Horch and Wanderer. After WWII, the company was owned by the East German state and renamed Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau, which was an umbrella corporation controlled by the Communist ruling party. Before the war, they had started to develop the RT-125 model, which became patent-free after the war and was further developed by other countries. They change the name of the company to VEB Motorradwerk Zschopau, or MZ for short, in 1956. Over the next few decades, MZ continued producing motorcycles while the company changed hands several times. In 2008, MZ announced that they were ceasing operations after losing financial support from their backers. The company was bought by racers Ralf Waldmann and Martin Winner in 2009, but went bankrupt in 2013.
